I believe in forgiveness. I really do. I understand that forgiveness is for self more than it is for the person(s) we forgive. I agree 100% and over the years I have found extreme peace in letting forgiveness take precedence.
But to forget? Is that even possible. I mean, unless my memory was zapped: Ala Men In Black, I really don’t quite see how that is possible. I thought about it long and hard and came to the conclusion that ‘Forget’ probably means to let go of the emotion (key: anger) that is triggered when we recollect the actual event/situation . But, isn’t that ‘forgiveness’?
It is indeed a quote that I don’t quite understand. Do you usually forget after you forgive or do you have another definition for this widely used quote?
